Potret Pemikiran is an international peer-reviewed journal published biannually by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) of Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Manado in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Muslim Communities in Minahasa (PS3M). As of 2024, the journal has expanded its scope to address a broader global audience with a sharper focus on minority experiences in pluralistic societies.
Beginning with Issue December of 2024, the Journal of Potret Pemikiran concentrates on the In-depth exploration and analysis of minority group dynamics within sociocultural contexts, socio-religious studies, economics, law, politics, and public policy, as well as education and character development, emphasizing transformation, adaptation, and community empowerment in pluralistic societies. The journal examines the complex interactions between minority groups and dominant social structures, processes of identity construction and negotiation, and manifestations of thought and culture emerging from these relationships.
With this new focus, Potret Pemikiran serves as a platform for international scholars, researchers, and practitioners to contribute to the discourse on social, cultural, and religious dynamics in diverse societies worldwide. The journal welcomes empirical research articles, literature reviews, critical essays, and relevant case studies. It particularly encourages interdisciplinary approaches and innovative methodologies that illuminate the complexities of minority experiences in contemporary society.
As an open-access journal, Potret Pemikiran is committed to disseminating high-quality research to a wide international readership, fostering global dialogue on cultural diversity, social cohesion, and inclusive development. By bridging local insights with global perspectives, the journal aims to contribute to developing more nuanced and inclusive paradigms in public policy, social practice, and academic discourse.
Through its new focus commencing in 2024, Potret Pemikiran strives to enhance understanding of the challenges and opportunities in pluralistic societies, ultimately contributing to more informed and equitable social policies and practices worldwide.
