Jurnal Ilmiah Al-Syir'ah has demonstrated a significant evolutionary trajectory since its inception in 2007. Initially, the journal's focus was concentrated on the analysis of Islamic legal thought and its development from the golden age of Islam to the contemporary era. Over more than a decade, the journal experienced gradual development in terms of the quantity of articles published per edition. The period of 2014-2015 was marked by the consistent publication of five articles per edition.
The year 2016 marked a crucial milestone in the journal's evolution with the implementation of an online version, substantially enhancing the accessibility and dissemination of content. Further developments occurred in 2018 with Volume 16, Issue 1, signifying a quantitative increase to six articles per edition. The subsequent issue in the same year introduced methodological innovations in the form of a new template and author guidelines, as well as a transition to an online journal management system. The journal maintained an output of six articles per edition until 2019.
A significant transformation occurred in 2020 with Volume 17, Issue 1 in June, demonstrating an increase in productivity to seven articles. Concurrently, the journal's orientation underwent a reorientation to emphasize the dynamics of adaptation and evolution of Islamic law in the context of socio-cultural changes. The journal's commitment to growth and relevance continued, with a substantial escalation to ten articles per edition beginning in 2023, a practice maintained to the present.
From a futuristic perspective, the journal continues to adapt to contemporary research trends and needs. The December 2024 edition is projected to explore studies on the mechanisms of adaptation and development of Islamic law in response to socio-cultural transformations, with a specific focus on regions with Muslim minority populations. Throughout its existence, Jurnal Ilmiah Al-Syir'ah has consistently provided an academic platform for researchers, scientists, and academics to contribute their findings and insights regarding the response of Islamic law to socio-cultural transformations. Its thematic coverage encompasses various aspects such as family law, economic law, customary law, minority rights, application of Islamic law in contemporary contexts, and the intersection between gender and religion.
